Wrapping Up Another Semester

IMG_20180518_081732[1]

Almost a month late writing this post, but here I am bouncing back onto my personal blog. Spring 2018, what can I say about this semester? This semester has challenged me in all the best ways. Shown me what I am capable of as a writer, but also how hard it can be to write on a daily basis. I got the opportunity to strengthen my writing by accepting a spot on an incredible internship.

In December 2017, Christmas break, I started looking for online writing internships. I didn’t expect to stumble upon one where I would come out with writer friends from all over the globe along with writing experience plus a portfolio. After sending in my test writing piece, I received the most amazing news on the 28th; I got the internship at Study Breaks Magazine and would begin writing the end of the following month.

I want to share some advice I learned this semester and internship opportunity. Through writing constantly, learning about Indesign and Photoshop, and making amazing memories – Spring 2018 turned out okay even with all the stress.

No matter what your passion is in College, I hope this advice helps you or inspires you in some way.

  1. You are your worst critic, but also your best critic.

  2. Keep practicing what you love whether that is writing, designing, photography, music, etc. Keep dreaming big.

  3. Don’t be afraid to make big moves in your passions: take chances.

  4. Remember to thank the people, who love you no matter how stressed you are during crunch time.

  5. Ask questions. If you are struggling with something don’t be afraid to ask someone. Most of the time, we feel like we ask too many questions, but asking is how we learn. We learn something new every day.

  6. You don’t always have to have a goal in mind, keep striving and take things little by little.

  7. Love who you are and what you do.

  8. Gain experience, even when it feels like you receive more no’s than yes’. That yes will come and I guarantee it will change something in your life for the better.

  9. Never give up on yourself!

  10. Lastly, when the going gets tough, keep moving forward. Focus on the good and not the bad.
